Reading, Berkshire, England // 5.50 pm // Mostly cloudy 24ºc / 75ºf
I'm sitting here in the bedroom absolutely sweating to buggery. The one big thing I've always hated about living in this house is how unbearably warm it gets when there's a little bit of sunshine outside. Mostly because we only have windows on one side of the house, and this side faces the sun pretty much from dusk till dawn. The heat comes in and stays. We can't open the windows because bees sit and wait in the trees across the garden for the window to open, then make their advance. Our new flat has windows at the front and back, thank god. A bit of air circulation will be a godsend.
There's been a couple of more developments in the whole move. We finally have transport for all out belongs sorted out, arriving in Reading at 10am on Saturday morning, 2nd August. And we're meeting the estate agent at 12pm in London at the new flat.
In the meantime Elle has got us loads of boxes and packing is well and truly underway. I've also notified some companies of the new address. Cancelled electricity and water for the date we're moving out. Same goes for the phone/internet/cable tv.
I need to make a start on the radio magazine, which has to be done before Saturday. On Saturday I'm travelling up to my old university town of Stafford to meet up with the 6 guys I lived with in the first year for a rather large scale piss-up. Even though I arranged it, with hindsight it couldn't have come at a worse time! But I'll certainly be using it to unwind for a night.

Moving
Reading, Berkshire, England // 12.39 am // Mostly cloudy 12ºc / 54ºf
So it's all on. We leave Reading in less than three weeks time. In the last three weeks we have given the landlord our notice of our leaving, viewed seven properties in North London and secured a one bedroom flat in Colindale, in the borough of Barnet.
We need to be out of this house in Reading by 14th August. However if we can leave the property earlier, and if our landlady can give it to someone else earlier, then we might save ourselves from paying rent on two properties for two weeks. We are hoping to move into the new place on the 2nd August. Tomorrow I'm going to speak to the guy at the estate agents and find out if that is a confirmed date or not.
The flat itself is great. It's probably the same size as the place we are in right now, but on one level instead of two. It's in a great location too, not far from the tube station and really close to Asda, KFC, McDonalds and what seems like dozens of pubs, most of them Irish pubs! That's my Celtic games on TV sorted out then!
I just want to be there now really. I've been really anxious about the whole thing, and the waiting on things to happen and the relying on other people. I just want it to be done and dusted and be settling in. I suppose three weeks isn't too far away now.
So I'm just waiting on the tenancy paperwork coming through this week and finding out our exact date of the move. Then we can start to pack, and sort out the van hire for the day of the move.
Also in the next three weeks I have to baptism to go to back in Scotland next weekend. I'm leaving on Thursday and spending a few days there before coming back next Monday. Then I'm back to my home of three years, Stafford, for a reunion-type thing with 6 of the guys I went to university with. And my friend Stephen is in London for work this week so I'll be meeting up with him on Tuesday for a few drinks after work.
Elle started her new job last Monday and so far it has been going really well. We also met up for a drink after work a few days ago as she works in Hammersmith and I work in Oxford Circus, which aren't too far away from each other.
So it's going to be a hectic few weeks. The way things are going, I probably won't get to write or film another blog post for weeks - the next one might well be from our new home in London!
