One trophy lost, two more to go

Reading, Berkshire, England // 1.51 am // Partly cloudy 10ºc / 50ºf

This week I, once again, have tried to get things organised and work my way down the list of things to do. Elle has been away for the last couple of days at her mums. One of the reasons she went was to get a haircut. 150+ miles for a haircut! Jason back home in Scotland did a bloody good number two at the back and sides, but there's no way I'd travel back every couple of months to get it done again! She tells me her hair is rather blonde this time. I'll find out tomorrow.

It's been a pretty dire few days of news, with the increasing death toll from the cyclone in Myanmar, and the incredible earthquake in China. And some odd stories to throw into the mix, including the biggest ever cow!

Had some good news today. It seems by best friend of 21 years from back home, Stephen, will be coming down to London to work next week. He works for a firm that's contracted out to do IT support for the NHS, primarily for the west of Scotland. But they've got a new contract for London, so he'll be here from Tuesday to Friday next week. It'll be great to see him - so far the plan is to meet up when I finish work on Wednesday and find somewhere to watch the Champions League final (he's a Manchester United fan).

Speaking of football, I was very pleased to see Rangers lose 2-0 to Zenit St Petersburg tonight in the UEFA Cup Final. Although I did hope that the game would go into extra time, just so that the Rangers players would be even more tired for their three remaining games in the Scottish Premier League, giving us (Celtic) a better chance at winning the league. Still, the could've won 4 trophies. Now, at best, it'll only be three. And we'll do our best to make sure it's no better than two.

Stephen was actually in Manchester to watch the game on the big screen in Piccadilly Gardens. Only, the big screen didn't work. And in true Rangers style, the fans started throwing glass bottles and bricks at each other. Such a disgrace.

Elle and I are going into town to book a holiday on Sunday afternoon. Although I've only recently realised that we will likely be leaving on the very same day that Euro 2008 begins! We will do our usual "pints per game" competition, which we started during the World Cup in 2002.

Got a call today to ask if I wanted to fill in for someone else's radio show in Slough. Unfortunately I couldn't because of work. I do look forward to one day presenting a "normal" show on the station, just to give it a try. Although I absolutely love doing the soul show on Sunday nights.
